How to Apply for the World Food Program for Retailers and Wholesalers in Borno State

The World Food Program (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability, and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters, and the impact of climate change.

In Nigeria, 8.7 million people are food insecure in the northeast Nigeria, and 60% of people nationwide live below the poverty line. In contrast, over 2 million people are internally displaced in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states.

WFP uses food or cash transfers to support displaced people living in camps or with host communities and vulnerable host populations. Throughout 2017 and 2018, WFP assistance reached 1.2 million people every month.

The World Food Program (WFP) of the United Nations provided cash-based assistance to 1.2 million people in Nigeria in 2021. A total of USD 7.1 million in WFP aid was transferred to the nation through cash transfers. WFP assists these folks by using electronic coupons that may be redeemed at more than 200 WFP-contracted stores.

For an electronic voucher program, the WFP office in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria, would seek to hire merchants in the marketplaces close to Shani. Customers of the WFP would frequent these stores.
